I like a challenge. I like when some thing is presented to me and it pushes me to try something new and different.
The summer I saw a post on Facebook that had girls standing next to classic cars but what they were wearing threw me for a loop. They were wearing dresses made out of sliced cheese, and for what some people probably would look at as odd I looked at inspiration.
Of course I thought that it was rather silly looking at first but then a week pass and I was still hooked on that post, it was living in my mind rent free and the only way I was going to get it out of my head was a create some thing. So I thought what better way to prove my skill level than to take a model and cover her with sliced cheese and still make it super sexy.
I honestly didn’t know what I was gonna do with the concept, I just found a friend that was willing and trusting in me to just show up without any indication of what she was going to be doing other than she would have to be naked. Thankfully I found the best model & when she walked into my studio she was beaming with excitement. The first thing I did was walk up to her with a bag and told her this is what she would be wearing & out of that bag I pulled a big packet of sliced cheese and I could see a little bit of concern in her face. Maybe it was more so “ what the hell did I just get myself into” but it quickly turned into excitement again.
I had her hop up on the bed without clothes and just began putting cheese in places until it almost started forming a bodysuit type of look. And I think that’s when the real creativity started blowing because I kind of had an idea of direction but after that first nap of the camera I stood there and kind of a shock because I couldn’t believe what was on my camera.
Here laid this gorgeous woman with cheap slices of cheese covering her body but yet the sexiness was remarkable. The color of her skin next to that yellow cheese was just beautiful. I just still couldn’t believe that this idea was actually working.
I always had a sense of pride for my work but nothing has struck me the same way this session did. I really can make anything look good. All the nights that I doubt my skills quickly became irrelevant. It doesn’t matter what a client wears as long as they trust in me we can make magic!
And ever since the session every time I start to doubt myself I quickly snapped back to that moment that I push the button on the first pose during this shoot! so from here on out I’m totally ok with anyone who wants to speak negatively on my art because show me someone else who had made cheese slices look this desirable!
