In 2020 we saw the rise of women and men alike seeking possible incomes while we were all locked inside during Covid or while many were left without jobs after things started opening. And one of the fastest growing options was Onlyfans.

For myself I was single and struggling but I was going through a very rough divorce so it was not exactly an option I was able to get at least while we were going through a court battle. Once my divorce was finalized in spring of 2021 I decided why not just see what I can get into. I had a decent enough following of people that have been asking me to do a site but I was pretty insecure if I’m being honest. But I decided to make a profile and jump in headfirst with all this help that I was gonna make so much money and boy was I wrong.

I had the presumptuous assumption that I was going to know exactly what I had to do because yes I’ve watched porn before and I am a professional nude taking photographer. how hard could it be?

My biggest realization now a year into it was onlyfans is definitely not in the content but in the marketing. I had so much pressure on myself to have the best content but I was a bit disheartened when I wasn’t flooded with subscribers. That’s when I decided to take a step back and do some research. What I discovered blew my mind.


The key for explicit adult content creators is to remember that no matter how they present their content, there is always someone looking for it! It doesn’t matter if you’re male, female, nonbinary, curvy, have a fupa, cosplay or wanna wear masks to hide your face… there is a consumer for you! You just have to put in the work to find them! There’s lots of avenues someone could market on between Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter and more. You just have to find what suits you best.


If you’ve ever followed me in the last few years you know me and social media have a battle. Not only with my own content making hustle but with my boudoir photography as well. I’m constantly banned and flagged BUT I’m learning it has a lot to do with the Hashtags I use. If I make any mention of boudoir, BOOM, flagged. But if I use keywords like “body positive”, anything to do with being a single mom, or even a form of LGBTQ+ phrases I’ll eventually find my market or target audience. You just have to dig deep into who you want to reach and find the trending hashtags for that market.


Another thing I learned about having an Onlyfans is that it is a lot more work than I expected. I thought it was going to be just a few short moments a week and done, easy money. WRONG! This is literally a full time job if you want to be successful. You have marketing, taxes and book keeping, upkeep on your body like getting waxed or your nails done or buying makeup or whatever it is you NEED to do the job. Making sure you keep track of every purchase and expenses. It’s a lot and it can eventually take a toll on your mental health as well but it can also make a positive impact on your self confidence.

It’s not easy but after a year on this platform I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to be in the industry and I seriously bow down to all of you who do this. With all the hate creators get from others it’s hard to keep a smile about it some days but we all know that in the end it’s your body and your choice. As long as you are happy and safe, who honestly gives a shit.
